How Literature shaped me

I am studying literature since five years. It  has played very important role in my life. I have learn so many things from books. I like reading plays & novels. It gives me aesthetic delight, pleasure.

But it is not only for entertainment. Books teaches us so many things. It gives better perspective to understand the society in far better way.

In the beginning of B.A. i was struggling with books to understand it. But books are trully great treasure to open up & absorb the invaluable thing it has. Ghasiram Kotwal, The Bluest Eye, Far From Madding crowd, Name Sake are some of my favourite books, which i enjoyed reading as well studying.

Texts of M.A.  like Hamlet, Faustus, Paradise Lost, To the Lighthouse,Sense and Sensibility, Tom Jones, Middlemarch, Oliver Twist, Waiting for Godot, The Birthday Party,  Gullivers Travels etc covers wide range of subjects like Love, hatred, betrayal, revenge, marriage, Existentialism, power and politics, criticism on downsides of humanbeings, poverty, issue of money and heritage, patriarchy, place of women in society, good versus evil and so many other things.

Namesake gave me vision to understand what is Diasporic sensibilities. Through The Bluest eye i can visualise suffering of Black people and entire issue of Racism.

ON@TCC, The White Tiger, The Da vinci code and The Sense of an Ending kind of modern texts i enjoyed more. Because whatever is narrated in books, that i can see happening in and around us. Whether its religious controversy or Globalization, changing morality or newer problems. I can read and understand society in better way.

After studying various characters, i have got ability to understand human nature in better way. Though human nature in unpredictable, i can understand other's mentality & behaviour.

Books are the best source to develop your self this is what now i believe.
