Children’s
Literature and Harry Potter
In children literature we can found the repetition
of words, phrases, situations and patterns. In the novel the magic and magic
tricks are repeat.
Simple and straightforward complex in the novel
writer created ‘New World’, narrative is highly done.
In the novel optimistic, hope, full of action,
fantasy and fanciful idea, think wishful thinking ,tone of joy and innocence, unquestionably reliable
friends. The characters are children.
Good wins over evil. So it is children’s literature.
At the same time it would have only children’s
literature then it might novel have depths, which it has actually. It is open
for interpretation on many other grounds, so it is not only children
literature.
The
discourse of Power and Politics in Harry Potter
Discourse is to
designate the forms of representation on codes, conventions and habits of
language that produces specific fields of culturally and historically located
meanings.
Harry Potter novels
talks about the discourse of the origin and distribution of power through an
effective use of the strategies of visibility. These narratives divide
characters into two categories of power relation: the one who sees and the one
who is seen.
When we talk on
politics in Harry potter included this topic like Discipline & Punishment,
prohibition, Single gaze, ideal person, surveillance, education, power &
knowledge. Power construe the knowledge.
But where are the politics? At the most
explicit levels Rowling provides the readers with a outline of a political
system: the ministry of magic. Harry Potter presents at multiple levels the
different manifestations of power. There is the struggle between power and
ethics showed through the war between the death eaters and the wizarding
community. The specific function of a school means that essentially a power
structure. Starting from the headmaster, professors, prefects, students and
finally servants- Hogwarts presents a hierarchical power structure.
When asked about the
politics and message in Harry Potter, Rowling explained: “I wanted Harry to leave our world and find exactly the same problems
in the wizarding world. Rowling wants to say that politics has become apart of
modern life, but it is the root of all problems, not solutions.
Voldemort’s thirst for
power takes him on a torturing and murdering spree. The prime example of this
is Voldemort, whose unquenchable thirst for power takes him on a torturing and
murdering spree. The moral of the story is, power isn't all it's cracked up to
be – and we should all hope that we would have the same strength of character
that Harry does when he's offered ultimate power, and turns it down.
The
theme of Love and Death
In
the novel Love and Death are the themes that go simultaneously. All the books
of Rowling have these common theme “Selfless Love gets triumph” as is said
‘Truth always wins’. We can talk on this
theme is traditionally and mythically. Last line of book…
“The
scar had not pained Harry for nineteen years. All was well.”
Love is a significant
theme in all the books of Harry Potter series. Harry loved all, and was loved
by all. This book delineates the concept of strongly tied of love among the
character.
Love plays vital role
in Voldemort's downfall than he or Harry realize.“Voldemort also unwittingly
ensures that Harry is tied to life while Voldemort lives by taking some of his
blood in the hope that he will be able to gain some of the protection that
lingers in Harry as a result of Lily sacrifice.
“You
should have died for them! As we would have done for you”.
Death has played a
central role in each book, and is at the heart of the final confrontation between Harry and
Voldemort. Both Horcrux, which form the main thrust of the entire series, and
the Deathly Hallows which are a major part of the story of the seventh book,
are shown to be means of avoiding or mastering death. Harry’s attitude toward
death is usually shown as a balance between recklessness and respect. Many
times, Harry’s actions have led to his being in a dangerous situation, yet he
has faced death bravely.
gains courage
to face Voldemort and his own death
‘'Do
not pity the dead Harry, pity the living.”
--
Dumbledore
Thus, Love and death
are the prominent in novel. It is the mother’s love which protects harry at the
same time is death prominent here.
